Ceramic Studio
An identity designed to be stamped into wet clay as readily as printed on a card.
Ceramic StudioThe brief
A ceramic studio wanted an identity that read as handmade without looking hand-drawn — something that could sit on a price card, a shipping box and the underside of a pot.
The move
I drew the mark as a single closed form so it could survive being cut as a stamp, then built a quiet type system around it and let the material do the talking in the applications.
The detail
The mark was tested at stamp size first. Anything that closed up in clay was opened out in the drawing, which is why the counters are wider than they look like they need to be.
